Bulgaria's EU accession treaty should be ratified as soon as possible, according to the Deputy Prime Minister Plamen Panayotov. This would be a clear political sign that we have completed the procedure, and that the member-countries can launch the ratification procedures, he said Sunday in an interview for the National Radio. In his words there are too many speculations on how long would the ratification take. It would be of Bulgaria's interest, however, the procedure to start immediately after the signing of the accession treaty. This would not delay Bulgaria's official joining to EU, which is fixed for January 1, 2007, Panayotov said. The Cabinet did a lot to prepare these procedures and we would like presiding countries like the United Kingdom and Luxembourg to launch them. This would be a good example for the other member countries to follow, Panayotov also said.
