Bulgaria has been invited to participate with a small contingent in a UN operation on Iraqi territory, the Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army General Nikola Kolev said on Monday.
A request has been made for some 120 troops to take care of security and protection at a UN office, Bulgarian news agency quoted him as saying.
Bulgaria will continue its presence in Iraq after the departure of the fifth Infantry battalion. Another five Bulgarian servicemen are expected to leave for Iraq by the end of this month to join a NATO operation as instructors for the Iraqi Security Forces, General Kolev also said. |
