Bulgaria's third mobile operator will bear the name "Vivatel," the former state telecom BTC announced Tuesday. The telco has carried out a major market research that proved "Vivatel" to receive the most positive reaction from potential clients. The launch of Vivatel will create real competition on the Bulgarian mobile market, BTC head Dennis Wallach said Tuesday. Bulgaria has one of Europe's highest rates for GSM services. According to Wallach, Vivatel would make the local market much more dynamic. The licence for the third GSM operator was awarded to BTC last June. Plans were to launch the third mobile network this April, but a delay was imposed because of auctions for UMTS licences and BTC Mobile negotiations with Bulgaria's two existing mobile operators, MobilTel and Globul.
