Bulgaria's Customs Agency expect a record revenue of BGN 8 B in 2008, its Director Hristo Kulishev announced Tuesday at a press conference.
For the first three quarters of 2008, the Agency has raised over BGN 7 B, of which over BGN 3 B come from excise taxes, and over BGN 3,5 B are from value-added tax on imports.
The revenue from fuel excise has increased by 22% compared to the 2007 levels; from cigarette excise - by 25%; from alcohol excise - by 55%.
In 2008 so far the Bulgarian customs officers have detected 71 instances of contraband of drug substances.
