Bulgarian Cabinet Mulls 'Clean Fuel' Tax Deductions
The Bulgarian cabinet of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party is planning to introduce tax deductions for owners of ecologically sound automobiles.

The information was announced Monday by Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, who said his experts are still calculating the percentage of the deductions, but the latter would apply to all used and new cars that comply with the European Union's environmental requirements – such as hybrid and clean fuel vehicles.

The deductions, most likely, will be introduced for the 2012 tax year.

Djankov pointed out the Ministry is analyzing the used and new cars market in order to decide if Bulgaria should follow in the footsteps of other EU countries to support the so-called "clean" vehicles.

According to the Minister, the analysis is not an easy process over the fact such cars exist for years now in the US, Europe and Japan, and the deduction would apply to second hand automobiles as well.
