The Bulgarian First Lady Zorka Parvanov donated 40 Bulgarian roses to be planted in the "Yoyogi" park in Tokyo, the Presidential press center reported. Zorka Parvanov is accompanying the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov during his official trip to Asia. At the Monday ceremony, the Deputy Governor of the Tokyo prefecture greeted and thanked Bulgaria's First Lady, adding that for everyone in Japan the word Bulgaria was associated with famous Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kotooshu, the Bulgarian rose and yogurt. Zorka Parvanov spoke about the traditionally good relations between the two countries and expressed her satisfaction that Bulgarian roses are going to bloom in the beautiful park in downtown Tokyo. Wifes of former Japan Ambassadors to Sofia, and Ms. Tenkoko Sonoda, Chair of the Bulgaria-Japan Friendship Committee attended the ceremony. In 1999 Sonoda received the Bulgarian "Madarski Konnik" (The Madara Raider) order for her active contribution to the development of the relations between the two countries.
