Eight companies submitted their bids for the concession of the Bulgarian port terminal Somovit at the Danube River. The eight bidders that take part in the tender are Bulgarian Inmat OOD, Kosmos Shiping AD, Nord Group OOD, C-V-S OOD, Octopod-S OOD, Cypriot Larcher Trading Limited, Valmex OOD and Interproekt OOD. The tender committee will review the bids in a one-week term and will rank the candidates. The criteria for choosing the best candidate include considering the investment programme, the business proposal, cargo capacity improvement, fixed and flexible annual concession remuneration. Somovit, at the Russe port, and ship terminal of Lesport in Black Sea city Varna were offered for concession of 30 years on March 1, 2005. The future-to-be investors in the ship terminals are expected to fuel large-scale investments, improve the service quality and boost the cargo capacity. Applicants will have to invest at least BGN 4 M in the Somovit terminal and at least BGN 9 M in Lesport within the first ten years of the concession. Besides, they will be required to pay a lump-sum of BGN 62,000 for Somovit and BGN 350,000 for Lesport terminals. These are the first ports to be offered for concession by the state.
