The euro has been gaining ground as the preferred currency for bank deposits in Bulgaria, a monthly study of the Industry Watch has shown in May. About 54% of the Bulgarian accounts are in euros, the organization said. Its report also showed that the deposits totalled BGN 9.9 B (approximately EUR 5 M) in April. Meanwhile, the increase of the household debts has been more rapid over January-April than last year. The gap between the debts and the incomes is growing, according to the report.
