Witte Automotive Bulgaria, which is a subsidiary of the German firm Witte Automotive GmbH is going to invest a total of BGN 21 M in the construction of a new factory for electronic and mechanical car parts in the Danube city of Ruse. The project will employ between 300 and 400 persons, and will also include a research and development center, the Vice-President of Witte Automotive Thomas Jindra announced. Witte Automotive Bulgaria was registered in August 2008. Its only owner is Witte Automative GmbH, which is a leading producer of vehicle access systems. Its clients include Volkswagen, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Daimler, Opel, Ford. Witte Automotive currently manages seven manufacturing plants - six in Germany and one in the Czech Republic. The total number of its employees is 3000, and its largest plant with 1 500 workers is located in the Czech town of Neidek. Witte has decided to build a plant in Bulgaria as part of its plan to expand its market share in Southeast Europe. It has chosen Ruse for the investment because of its favorable location, the available qualified labor, and the transport infrastructure. Another European car parts producer, the French group Montupet invested over BGN 70 M in a new factory in Ruse, which was opened in September, and will work with Renault, Peugeot, Audi, and Ford.
