Pope Benedict XVI will meet a Bulgarian delegation headed by President Georgi Parvanov on Monday. The first official papal audience will take place with during the traditional visit to the grave of St Cyril in Rome for May 24, when Bulgaria pays tribute to the creators of the first Slav alphabet. The president will be the first Bulgarian statesman to meet recently elected Pope Benedict XVI as he will be given a private audience at the Vatican. He will also talk to Cardinal Angelo Sodano, dean of the College of Cardinals and will pay his respects at the grave of late Pope John Paul II. The presidential delegation includes representatives of the government, the parliament, the Holy Synod and intellectuals. On the second day of the visit May 24 the Bulgarian delegation will visit to the grave of St Cyril in Rome.
