Washington and Baghdad have paid tribute to Bulgaria and all other countries that have supported the US mission in Iraq during a special meeting in New York with the leaders of delegations from the countries sustaining military contingents in Iraq.
The official ceremony, held by US President Georges W Bush and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani was organized within the UN General Assembly meetings taking place this week in Manhattan.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev and Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin were among the ceremony's official guests.
In his speech, Bush praised the work of the countries from the coalition and their contribution to the emerging Iraqi democracy and reminded the audience about the sacrifice of multinational forces and of the Iraqi people.
For his part, Iraqi President expressed in the name of the Iraqi people his gratitude to the countries that helped Iraq get liberated from the worst kind of dictatorship and also pointed out the many sacrifices and endurancies.
